Reminder: YOU DON’T NEED FANCY EQUIPMENT!
Stairs can be used for effective cardio AND lower body work. You can also use them for V-sits (ab work), more difficult planks & pushups (put your feet on them), tricep dips and a million other exercises. Be creative!
Other D.I.Y. workout tools?

Kitchen Counter: Great for ‘power’ pushups. Push yourself off in a plyometric fashion, and catch yourself before lowering. Great way to improve your pushups on the floor!
Chairs: The possibilities are endless! Step Ups, leg lifts, crunches, russian twists, elevated hip raises, mountain climbers (put your feet on the chair), box jumps etc.
Socks/Towels: SLIDE & GLIDE! One leg squats, lateral skaters (remember skating with your socks as a kid?), mountain gliders (glide your socks forward and back in plank), Star Planks (in plank position, widen and narrow your feet in a sliding motion). Place them under your hands to use for sliding pushups!
Your BED! The soft surface and bounce makes some moves more fun (and challenging). Try your normal floor routine on your bed, and use pillows for elevation, support and instability.
Mirrors: Check your form! And… check yourself out. Werk.
The Wall: A sneaky tool! Try climbing up with your feet (from plank position), squat holds (back on wall), pushups, or use it for balance for your one-legged booty work.
Laundry Detergent Bottles: Unless you’re an eco-freak, you may have a few lying around. If the handle is big enough, you can fill it with water for a DIY Kettlebell.

You’re only limited by your imagination! Play, have fun and use what you’ve got!

Raspberry Ketone

The lovely owner of the local health food store (who happens to have PSOD), has informed me that there’s apparently a newish supplement called Raspberry Ketone that her doctor is encouraging patients with PCOS to try.  She said it’s been featured in a few places but I can’t recall hearing about it before. It’s suppose to help with balancing insulin, increases your energy and helps the body break down stored fat. I hate so called miracle pills but it’s rare to hear of one getting a doctor’s endorsement. They’re pricey but I want to splurge and pick up a bottle. I figure if it works it’ll be worth the price, if not lesson learned. You’re suppose to see results within 2 weeks on 100mg-200mg per day. When I buy it (probably after i buy a new computer) I’ll document it just like I did with the other supplements. I don’t have high hopes but it would be nice if this one actually works for me. I’m still keeping thorough records of my progress with Jillian Michaels’ program so can compare it to what I’ve done so far with diet and exorcise alone.

BECAUSE THERE ISN’T ENOUGH FITSPO OF PEOPLE DURING THEIR JOURNEY

She looks so happy! I dig it!

WOOOOO! :)

This photo is filled with awesome! It punches the ‘“large” people don’t workout’ myth in the face and it’s not a super skinny blond girl.

Had No Idea US Beef Is Banned In Europe...

I keep discovering US produced products that are banned in Europe and it really makes me worry about all of us here. I can’t tell if they’re over protective of their citizen (but could that ever be a bad thing?) or if our leaders are more than happy to flush our healths down the toilet so that they can line their wallets.

It’s not just beef and chlorinated chicken either; our GM corn, wheat and soy are also banned or require labels. They even went so far as to burn crops when GM plants were found growing in them. Now that says a lot when you consider it’s in just about every food in this country.

Lauren Colfer is my current inspiration. As long as I don’t lose too much of my chest it’s a possibility.

Three Body Types: No Need For A Body Type Test - Find Your Ideal Body Type Diet

nicoleinstages:

Find your body type

I think if I didn’t have PCOS I would be a mesomorph, since that’s more or less my build and that of my brothers. Unfortunately I have an endomorph metabolism that likes to store any remotely semi-unhealthy thing as fat and mainly on my stomach.

If the food’s in plastic, what’s in the food?

NOTE:
My dear Tumblr readers and followers—do me a personal favor, could you please? Make sure you are not taking home take-out food in those plastic containers and heating them up in the microwave. As a bioplastics guy (plastics from plants not oil) I am WELL-AWARE that offgassing from heated take-out trays, among MANY OTHER PLASTIC ITEMS, is extremely bad for you. The take-out containers are just one source, but an extremely potent source: when heated to food temperature of 150 degrees F and higher, they offput gas and solids into your food.
This is why I am focused on bioplastic.

In a study published last year in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, researchers put five San Francisco families on a three-day diet of food that hadn’t been in contact with plastic. When they compared urine samples before and after the diet, the scientists were stunned to see what a difference a few days could make: The participants’ levels of bisphenol A (BPA), which is used to harden polycarbonate plastic, plunged — by two-thirds, on average — while those of the phthalate DEHP, which imparts flexibility to plastics, dropped by more than half.
