“Fat people in America are reduced to nothing but fatness. A fat person has a health problem of any kind? It’s because they’re fat. A fat person is single? Well, duh. Fat. They deserve it. A fat person is poor? That’s not surprising-obviously they have bad judgment and no impulse control! Because why would a smart person choose to be fat? If a fat person goes to a restaurant and sits on a broken chair and the chair collapses under them, it’s because they’re fat. But if a thin person sits on the same broken chair and the chair collapses under them, it’s because they sat on a broken chair.” —

Lindy West, Being Mean To Fat People is Pointless: A Good Old Fashioned Plea for Civility (via broadist)

Negative experience = because of your fat

Positive experience = in spite of your fat

Also: this is a fab post, but don’t read the comments. I cried.

Jillian Michaels Body Revolution [Finished and Restarted]

I’m official done with with the Body Revolution. I’m not sure why on the video Jillian says ‘final 2 weeks’ because the booklet says the last workouts are for 3 but I ended up following the video. My older brother wanted to restart the program with me this week and I figured if I was going to jump right back into it than it wouldn’t be a problem, so I skipped the 3rd week. Plus I was looking forward to the “easier” routines. The joke is on me, quick search of my own tags would have reminded me of how much pain I was in the first 2 weeks. I checked in with him today and it turned out that he flaked out the first freaking day. Another fit buddy down the drain.

Here’s my final measurements.

I kept putting off taking the last two, I had some really bad hormonal issues for over a month but in the end they still look really good to me. I may have gained 6 pounds over 80 days but I’ve lost an entire pant size. In case anyone is wondering, no I didn’t bulk up. In fact unless I flex you can’t even see the muscles but I did slim down all over.

I noticed a lot of people seem to be having problems with feeling ill or persistent pain while doing the program. I get that; the lack of breaks can build up inflammation. Towards the end I was taking an extra day off every other week because my hips were snapping just walking around. I just hope most of the people complaining about illness aren’t following Jillian’s diet plan. She has some great tips for nutrition, but I don’t think a majority of people can stay healthy while eating only 1200 calories a day, especially doing these workouts. It seems like most of the people who are having the best success with these workout programs (Body Revolution, Insanity, P90X, etc,) are on their 4th or 5th round with it. Proving if you want to be in amazing shape, 90 days is just the start.
